At Home-Start UK, I stepped in during a tough financial period and focused on diversifying income and finding new funding opportunities. It was really rewarding to help the team move into a more stable position. More than just improving the finances, it meant protecting vital services for families — and that made the work especially meaningful.
Scaling Corporate Partnerships Big Time:
“At Home-Start UK, I led the growth of corporate partnership income from £150k to £3m a year over four years. That kind of step change doesn’t happen by accident – it came from building genuinely strategic partnerships with major brands like BT, the John Lewis Partnership and Cadent Gas. We created long-term collaborations that delivered real value on both sides and drove sustained, transformational growth.
Bringing a National Campaign to Life:
“I directed a high-impact national televised campaign with ITV that went far beyond awareness — it was built to drive action. The result? Over 2,400 new volunteer leads and a multi-year initiative that continues to grow the organisation’s reach and capacity. It was a standout example of what focused, strategic campaigning can achieve.”
Building Dream Teams:
“One of the things I’m most proud of at Home-Start UK is how the corporate partnerships team evolved. Over four years, it grew from a single role into a dynamic, high-performing unit. It reminded me of those earlier days in my career, building pipelines from scratch — that hands-on experience really shaped how I approached the growth. With a great team and a clear strategy, we not only hit our goals but consistently exceeded them, delivering strong, sustained income growth.”
Landing Game-Changing Partnerships:
At Macmillan Cancer Support, I had the incredible opportunity to craft compelling proposals that secured some truly game-changing partnerships. This included major wins like the £5m Virgin Money London Marathon partnership, which not only brought in significant funding but fantastic national visibility too. I also loved playing a key role in forging strategic alliances for their iconic World's Biggest Coffee Morning with big names like Betty Crocker and Nescafe, ensuring widespread engagement and vital support for their incredible cause.
Making a Difference Beyond Fundraising:
For me, it’s never just about the money raised. What really matters is the wider impact partnerships can have. I’ve always been passionate about using them as a way to spark important conversations — whether around digital inclusion or how we support and value volunteers. When collaboration is genuine and thoughtful, it can lead to real, lasting change, and being part of that is something I find deeply rewarding.
